there was an earthquake tonight. 8 miles NW od Ottawa, Illinois at approx. 10 minutes after 1 a.m. and i felt it. I believe it registered a 4.5 on the Richtor Scale. Luckily, my mom was still awake, and she validated my experience. its now about 2:45 a.m. and still has yet to really be reported on any major news networks. i was out in california back in May and i felt one but i didnt know thats what it was when it happened. i have to say, it is something i will probably remember for the rest of my life. Springfield is a little over 150 miles miles from Ottawa. I cant believe i could feel the earthquake that far away. but it seems as though it was felt at least all the way to Lawrence, Kansas. man, its almost unreal. I am not familiar with any fault line near that area. i have heard of a Sanwich Fault Zone, but im not sure if that is actually a confirmed fault area near there or not. Most people are aware of the Madrid Fault Line but that is in southern illinois. i may report more infor later as it becomes available.
